Rain Falls Down

Rain Falls Down

A Poem by Phi Coulthard

The buildings are bordered up
And the rain falls down
On to the emotional poor
Those who walk around
Like it’s sunny
During a nuclear winter

The rain falls down
Soaking through my defences
A different kind of pain
I’m forced to absorb
The Surplus run off my fingers
As I fall in to denial
And I smile once again

The rain falls down
On the roads
Down the boarded up windows
And the homeless people
As they try to find home
Whilst they walk round hell

The rain falls down
Cos we all suffer from pain
Until pain is who we are,
And our faces wear boarded up emotions
