lack of sleep, dreaming Tropics

lack of sleep, dreaming Tropics

A Poem by Mr Marathon

I will not dream tonight
I have not slept for days

my bed is dusted with a plethora of undigested thoughts
my throat is hanging harangued
from the decrepit depths of a constipated mind

it is bloated by the the tropic of cancer
my eyes are seeping with narcissism
looking off to the sky

step outside of the window
float on the sordid tongues of your mother's earth
against the lamp that towers
beneath the rusting ocean overhead

it is a dim glow, audacious
enough to dare you to split your pancreas

take a bite out of this peach, Marla whispers
before I took the dreaded sword
As my solution

rake these thoughts into your swelling head
go to sleep, she tells me

sleep gently, sink into the sands
let the hourglass, drip you away
sift through the atrophy of the mundane

dream
