suffocating the conscious

suffocating the conscious

A Poem by Mr Marathon

I am now drifting in and out of consciousness –
out of sleep –
in and out of it, like coming up for air out of water

drinking heavy liquid
sparks awareness

I feel terribly threatened, my medicine hurts
Is it the monster I consumed?

my body is becoming nauseated, building up gaseous –

where is this illness approaching from, to what means does drowsiness hinder me

the mounting stress
strange ulterior conscious emerges
it nags at the eyes

heaviness
the interlude to a headache
–the lethargy

incoherent, automatic
heavy and low

I walk the streets with constant fear of passing out
no slumber, no days

I am being suffocated in this coat
my blood is throbbing – in my neck...must calm the nerves

stepping outside of self helps...
