Obtaining a New Set of Eyes

Obtaining a New Set of Eyes

A Poem by Nicole Clarice Anna Wiest

Can you remember a time when you

looked at a tree,

through the leaves,

between the branches,

only to see the sky?

Bypassing all things tangible

to search for another view.

Experiencing something so majestic

that you cannot believe your eyes.

Driven through the city

but instead of looking at the road ahead of you,

you look up.

Notice the architecture of this world.

Notice how the city kisses the sky.

Look at your surroundings in such a way

that you can no longer recognize them.

Things you have seen a thousand times

become new.

Change your view and wonder

if anyone has ever seen the world this way;

through altered eyes.

I find this one to be quite thought provoking, and I challenge anyone to try this. Look at the world in a different way. Beauty that was once lost through routine will again be restored. This is my experience anyways.

Yes, I can remember, and yes I will take my eyes off the road for a few seconds and look up!

We are all so busy we do tend to miss the beauty of simple things or sights we take for granted. A lovely poem, I especially like the last line, "through altered eyes".

i have done that sooo many times and its unbelieveable. when you look at the world in a different view and everything looks new. its amazing! it makes me want to see the world so badly. well done here, this is very creative and really dares the reader to become more open minded :D

Very nice job on this one. I really like the message and the flow fits it well. I like seeing the work in new views. You inspired me to post one of mine with a similar theme called "A Clipping on the Ground," check it out when you get the chance.

Great job!
