It Should Have Been Me

Can't you see,

O' my love,

can't you see,

that it should have been me,

and not you,

to leave me so blue?

If there was a God

in the sky above,

a God of Justice,

a God of mercy,

a God of love,

gentle as a dove:

He would not punish

He would not afflict,

He would not torture,

He would not murder,

He would not sacrifice

those who are innocent!

But there is no God of wisdom above,

there is no God who has known love,

there is no God who has taken a wife,

to have her life cruelly taken from him,

and stolen away like a thief in the night,

to leave Him sobbing, brokenhearted, and blue.

For if there was a God,

in the sky above,

He stands ever aloof,

at a vast distance,

uncaring and unloving,

and perhaps, Blind.

For any Just God,

could easily see,

that it should not,

have been you to die,

it should have been me,

and you should have lived,

lived for that fabled Eternity,

Irma, my love!

Author's Note

Marvin Thomas Cox-Flynn de Graham
FYI: If there was a God up there, if there is a God up there, that worthless son of a bitch can kiss my fucking ass, kick my ass for all I care, because my wife trusted in that piece of shit, and where the hell was He when she needed Him the most! George Carlin said it best: "Religion is Bullshit!"

Well, well, well my dear Marvin,
Many may read your authors notes and because they are true believers they will be upset with what you write and not leave you a review….
But that is not the case with me.
I do not blame you for being angry and wishing it was you that had gone first.
I am not a believer in God, but since you say that your wife was… I wonder if by believing in God it gave her some sort of peace at the end?
