Two years ago, I suffered multiple (between 5 or 6) strokes at the very stroke of midnight. I survived only because I had to get home & take care of my wife who had early dementia ...

'Twas but a stroke of fortune's luck,

that found me face to face with reality,

as I braced the winds of time,

once so warm and ever so kind,

now grown savagely cold,

as a ranting raging blizzard,

surreally, brutally, not sublime,

in but a moment of time, time, time …

So many years pissed off and wasted --

precious gems scattered carelessly

upon the shifting sands of this life --

as I face my own undeniable mortality,

and know: I shall soon be no more,

but only a fleeting shadow of a life

gone by, ended, spent, no longer extant,

relegated to existence as a memory

of those who would remember me alive …

And yet,

I have savored every moment of living,

and have nary a single complaint

against a gift that was worth every moment

of living, mistakes and all, until that day,

when time runs out, and there is no more

-- me ...

Such power in words as read through. LOVE this piece! For we only have a certain amount of time here on earth, depends on when our time is up. We never know quite when it will be. We wish to live forever beyond the means, but apparently it won't happen in our lives, so we live to make it the best ever we can have, and not try to regret living it how it's played, or been laid out for us.

Until we “Pass” we will not know … and so I must admit that I do believe our Spirit still exists… there is a Divine Guidance … while on this Earth… softly, Pat
