The One You Used To Be

The One You Used To Be

A Poem by Melody Telleria
"

When you realize who you love isnt the person you thought you loved anymore.

"

I never though i'd have to ask the question.

But where did you go, the one you used to be?

Do you see how it distresses my heart and mind,

how I ask myself, "when did he become such a mystery?"

Looking back, I can still see your easy smile,

your desire to be tender, adoring, easy to read.

I know people change, time peels away the layers,

it destroys, tears down, molds a person anew.

I wasn't prepared , i'm not ready,

I don't want to catch up.

My safe place, my comfortability,

the ease that was created with you.

I'm selfish, aren't I?

I should keep learning, rediscovering,

accepting the inevitability that destiny plays.

Do you feel the same about me?

Have I become a shadow of who I used to be?

There's a sadness to it all.

How do we go on?

Keep holding hands until the music is gone?

I see where you want to go with this, but in my opinion, you might want to give it another edit glance, its goods, just needs the shine that your work as proven when I have read it. I like this and I think there is more behind the work.

Thanks for your advice. I think I may give it a go. I wrote this long ago and put it on here and now.. read more
This is especially common in younger relationships. Either the person changes because of life, or the stop playing the part they were pretending to be when they first met you. You realize that was all an act, and they grow comfortable, neglectful. A very relatable poem. Good work, thanks for sharing ^^
