Alleyways of the Mind

Alleyways of the Mind

A Poem by Melody Telleria

Alleyways of the mind, those dark crevices,

dingy, crude, a musk of hopelessless.

You've been there, as have I, deep sorrow of our souls,

the need to lose control.

To escape from maniacal routine and superficially led lives

that are dwindling away away in time.

The right to internally scream and rant silently

at what we've let ourselves become.

Catch a red eye, a midnight train,

travel aimlessly for a while, in heavy gloom.

Not all of us recharge by sunbathing in the Aegean Sea of positivity,

the crisp air amidst silken thighs spread under golden rays.

We sip on cocktails, down liquid fire,

guzzle fertilized nature we've murdered and

become electically charged wires.

Always seeking to get lost in dreams,

mind altering bits of happy we force into our bloodstreams,

the suicide of knowledge rampant and the world pregnant with despair,

waiting to burst, to share.
