Land of Forgotten Dreams

Land of Forgotten Dreams

A Poem by Melody Telleria

Land of forgotten dreams,

you've disappeared and faded into

the secret pockets of the earth.

Land so refined and rich, how could we

give up your splendor and worth?

Living in the shadows of the beauty

that used to be and now can't see.

When did we lose ourselves in squallid misery?

The sorrowful rut of each day,

as we allow ourselves to be consumed,

chipped away, our brittle souls disintegrating,

like paper taken with fire,

the slow ember spreading until every cell in us expires.

Our minds, a precious tool, so abused

by greed and consumerism.

We are drowing in a sea of ignorance!

Feeding off of social filth and pressure to evolve into perfection.

But a perfection defined by what? By who?

To be rated by appearance, like platters of tasty confections.

In the land of forgotten dreams

I took a walk through one day,

hoping to remember the simplicity and magic

that was carelessly tossed away.

"Our minds, a precious tool, so abused
by greed and consumerism."
The poet has succeeded in addressing the current day man.

"To be rated by appearance, like platters of tasty confections."
Perfect example of Simile.

"In the land of forgotten dreams
I took a walk through one day"

symbolism and reality merges here! Wonderful.

Am not qualified enough to give a review to such a grand language, but doing my bit.
