A LESSON

A LESSON

A Poem by Barbara Lynne

A Lesson

Don't sit there feeling lonely
Stop your crying, don't be sad
Think of all the good things
In your life that you have had

I know you thought he loved you
You thought he was the one
Then your dreams turned into dust
When he said it was just for fun

You should have known it was coming
Love never seems to work for you
So wipe your eyes, don't be a fool
There is nothing that you can do

Maybe next time you'll be more careful
Not give your love away so fast
Stop and think, you always lose
Learn a lesson from your past

So pull yourself together
You've been here many times before
He doesn't love you so let him go
Why torture yourself anymore

So breathe and try to forget him
It's you, not him who hurts
Maybe next time you'll be wiser
And not ignore it when he flirts

About
I have been writing poems and songs since I was a young girl. Sometimes it is easier to say how you feel and what you dream in a poem or song than it is face to face. I appreciate all comments and t.. more..
