Satiating StrayA Poem by nadia dmitriForget that distracting dog
To yearn is to ache
When that emptiness is filled Where does that pain go? We give it a name We give it a place to sleep And pray it away Owned like a stray dog A placeholder of true warmth Too soon discarded We make so much room For this hurt, and then blame it For taking up space Emptiness is filled It takes the place of the stray The real replaces Bandage that worry Forget that distracting dog Its no longer yours No ceremonies Leave that satiation, the Wounds that kept you warm
