Wax

A Poem by nadia dmitri
"

The burden of proof

"

A blown out candle

Sits surrounded by sharp shards

Of its former home

Smoke twisting from its

Tired tongue, like thick rivers

Of beaded black blood

Dripping onto the

Floor, the melted and bruised wax,

The burden of proof

i like this, makes me think of something we abuse for its beauty and leave discarded once its use has been exhausted or in this case, extinguished

it was entirely my pleasure :)
I love this so much. It's very moody. The burden of proof is such an amazing ending line. This is a candle whose flame started a fire that burnt down the house, yes? That's what I take from it, at least. This felt like the perfect amount of detail to balance the abstract mood while not obscuring the story too much.
