Not Worship, Nor HungerA Poem by nadia dmitriI have learned that if it looks, sounds, and feels like begging, then it is.What is the difference between praying and pleading? When do you stop being a man of god and start being a dog begging for scraps? I have realized more and more that there is little that distinguishes the two. I have realized that they are one in the same. The only difference is that the dog knows it is desperate. While the man of god insists that he is more dignified. I have been both sides of this pathetic palindrome. I have known both martyrdom and starvation. In both scenarios you are scratching at a closed door. In both scenarios you insist your solitude has purpose. In both scenarios you realize there is no one listening on the other side. I have learned that speaking your nightmares will not turn them into dreams. I have learned that true dedication does not demand blood. I have learned that if it looks, sounds, and feels like begging, then it is. Love is not worship, nor is it hunger. I will wait patiently, albeit unheard and malnourished, but I will wait. I will find someone who does not even fit in the confines of this poem. © 2024 nadia dmitriReviews
