The Soldier and The Sky

The Soldier and The Sky

A Poem by nadia dmitri
"

Almost like there was no war at all

"

A dying soldier lies on a quiet battlefield

What was once a terrain of strife and flame is now but morning embers and windy whispers

He looks at the sky above him

Once littered with planes and bombs

Now so empty and still and blue

Almost like there was no war at all

Beautifully written. We must always remember the sacrifices made and the lives lost in such a stupid thing as war. ~Sharon

I imagine something like this has happened many times, to many different people. The horror of war expends itself, to be replaced by a scene of utter calm. How nice it would be if only the latter would remain.

Such a shame isn't it. Some would say the reason we have peace today is because of the war we had yesterday. And yet it feels like it will never end.
Very thoughtful write.

Thank you so much :)
Silence is peace, relief is life itself when devastation and noise has gripped every emotion you thought were yours and yours alone. You write with such feeling and incite, leaving your/this reviewer near lost for words. But, believe me, your poem is more than words, Nadia.
