![]() A PRAYER FOR THE MANKINDA Poem by Naina Grover![]() To break through the evils of the society![]() Words lose their meaning when they grow old and shed like leaves They are true today, stale tomorrow, an interrupted reverie Friends are letters inscribed somewhere deep beneath the sand An acquaintance somewhere lost in a distant wonderland I thought that trust was profound and words discourse the spree And love was something to be felt, not to lie lovingly Counting numbers without one to count on, a façade wins in the end I wonder if they would ever look back and ever solemnly repent For days of glory are like spring when bees cling on to you like slaves And in weary you are shoved away, dangling at the heart of a knave My thoughts were like stars I tried but could never fathom into constellations And people sinned with every choice always have a reason Running after kites and clouds is oblivious now to me Hearts full of innocence and a world full of wonders is now a broken dream Smiles are broken and so are hearts mourning in the dark Caricatures of love brushed away in the void from the eyes of the Mozart In the fell clutch of circumstance cautiously crept in reality Attachments are futile and so are expectations, devoid is this world of purity A smile on the face and holding daggers behind their backs is how friends greet everyday But I pray and hope for a world unknown where love breaks through the darkness to the glory of the day
