The Shadow of Truth

The Shadow of Truth

A Poem by Jarett Anderson

The shadow of truth

As ripening fruits

Follow their roots

The shadow follows the truth

As the moon lights the source of the shadow

As the shadow shapes the source of the root

As the source reunites with what follows

As the sun turns the shadow around truth

When the tree knows its forest

When the grass knows its field

When the rock knows its mountain

When a human grows to feel

The shadow of truth

As ripened fruits

Fall close to their roots

The shadow falls close to the truth

As the moon lights the source of the shadow

As the shadow shapes the source of the root

As the source reunites with what follows

As the sun turns the shadow into truth

When the truth knows its shadow

When the shadow knows its truth

When a human knows its limits

When a human knows its proof

As the tree knows its forest

As the grass knows its field

As the rock knows its mountain

As a human knows its real

As the truth holds its shadow

As the shadow holds its heart

As God holds its human

As the human holds to God
