On Tuesday

On Tuesday

A Poem by Neal S

Don’t hate me lord

But I became an atheist on Tuesday

I carried her tomb on Monday

Was lost in the streets on Wednesday

We think within the sky

Within the earth

Within the stone under the souls of our shoes

Lost, wondering the forgotten city of human empathy

What happened here lord, to your flock to your children

You must have a sense of humor or in turn you are not There

Compassion is held between the tooth and gum ready to Be swallowed down only to be brought back when it suits

Don’t hate us lord

We are lost But trying

I think this one is my favorite poem of yours. There is a lot to this poem, more than what meets the eye. In a way, there is a ton of unspoken emotion underlined by the way you address the Lord. As if you resent him for abandoning the world, yet the last line implies that you haven't become so lost in the darkness that you no longer wish to look for the light. Granted, I could be way off but regardless I rather like the undertones in the piece
