Innocence Lost

Innocence Lost

A Poem by New Theory
"

What does not kill you makes you stronger.

"
Innocent eyes filled with tears
She cried and her innocence washed away.
Now a cynic she believes in none.
Broken carriage with a passenger of only one.
She rides in the cold windy roads
To an endless night her path unfolds.

The chilling wind cuts her skin
Bleeding charred skin from the outside
Just like her heart on the inside.

Reaching on the highest cliff.
She drops the anvil of her.
Now there is nothing she fears.
As she sheds her old, dried sins
At long last the sun rises.
And she is the one who wins.

A shattered girl who turns into a temporary cynic and eventually surpasses all turmoil to emerge as someone different, no longer a cynic, happy, now. Wondrous tale of a girl coming to terms with herself and "shedding" her old self away, a pursuit of happiness, in some way. Well done.

my pleasure ........:D
Very beautiful poem man! It shows the power of pain that life can have, but it also shows the power that a person has to overcome it and move forward! That is very rare to see in poems similar to this one. Well done sir!

Thank you Miles, I must apologize I havent been able to review much stuff lately.
I really enjoyed this! No matter how battered down and broken inside we may feel, we can conquer whatever is put in our paths. All we have to do is try. Great write with an excellent message! (:

Thank you Quianna.
This is a really great piece. A couple minor suggestions - Now cynical, or Now a cynic, and perhaps drop off her rather than off of her. But the imagery is powerful and the form and font complimentary to the piece.
