Blink Of Moment

Blink Of Moment

A Poem by New Theory
"

Feeling that old kiss like it just happened again.

"
And here we are in the brink again
In this occasion of an opportune black night
I sit in this dark, empty room,
As you occupy my once empty mind.
Thoughts of our past flashing with each blink
of tired, weary eyelids
Begging me for a sleep,
Inching a little bit more closer
to madness, to insomnia, to a certain Transcendence
where you are right here beside me,
even when you are not Physically.
You talk, you smile, you ask me
"Why do you love me so much?"
While all I want to do is
"Kiss that sweet nectar off your lips"
It courses through my veins to the tips of my fingers
Jolting every little cell of my body from sleep.
Reaching out to you, like iron filings to a magnet.
I stay that way for that infinite moment
Passing away like nothing has happened in reality.
None knowing that I lived an entire lifetime in that blink of moment.

Oh, I do love this one!! Such sweet memories that are filled with so much love, passion, and emotions seems to disappear far too quickly. If only we could savor these moments.

This is fantastic, New Theory. Honestly, one of my favorites by you. I could feel your thoughts bleeding the emotions into my soul, as if we were in that same moment.

Fantastic - superb job with this!! xo :)

I question the quotation marks around "kiss that sweet..." because it is something the first person wants to do, not say so it confused me and I had to reread.
"It courses" what is it?
"in the brink" is usually "on the brink"

Favorite bit: "infinite moment" and the hook of "And here we are...

Thank you Ayushi :)
Having to relive years of memories in the blink of a moment is something that intrigues me about the human mind, it certainly says something about the brain's capability to process such complex thoughts in only the span of a few seconds and for arguably no reason. The complexity of the task intrigues me so and I find myself amazed by it.

Straying away from stray thoughts, you capture the exact feel of memories that haunt very soothingly, in a style akin but not quite exactly to how Gillian Flynn shows her character's thoughts as the story progresses. Your usage of quotation marks indicates your thoughts playing a pun, for lack of a better word, by utilizing your memories and using what is said or implied in them to formulate such haunting prose that makes our hearts shiver. Such vivid incorporation of inner thoughts and I must say, you pull it off rather poignantly.

Likewise to your incorporation of memories, I feel inclined to mention that Flynn has utilized a similar method in her books (in this case, we speak of Gone Girl). To sum it up, there is a scene (no major spoilers for those who read this comment) where the main protagonist is cheating on his missing wife and while the action takes place, he could remember what his wife had said in a previous note to him prior to going missing; he could hear her scream at him while his lover at the moment made her move screaming out "YOU ARE BRILLIANT. YOU ARE WITTY. YOU ARE WARM. Now kiss me!" with literal emphasis on his wife's words. Both your usage of memories to show how they could lapse within a few seconds to Flynn's usage invoke a similar feeling and I just had to mention it.

Well done, Theory, as you can see I've immersed myself quite a bit in this one, aha.

I am quite happy you enjoyed it and there is so much I learn from you. Thank you for stopping by :)
I agree with others very well done and oh so vivid.

Memories can indeed bring about what you describe above...
