Electricity surges at the slightest touch

Electricity surges at the slightest touch

A Poem by Nick Lybarger
"

A love poem written for my love

"

Electricity surges at the slightest touch.

Signals flashing through me, into you,
Through you, into me.
An endless recursive loop,
Integrating us into each other.
Completing, connecting,
Blurring the line between us.

This close binding comes naturally
Yet not without pain.
We are drawn into each other
Yet repelled by doubt.

Trust that I feel the same as you do.
Believe that understanding is possible.
Hope that the darkness will recede.
Stand with me at the precipice of destruction.
Clinging to each other like vines
Entangled together inexorably.
The void looms all around us,
Everywhere and nowhere.
Nothing and everything.
We struggle to comprehend,
But we do not ignore.

Bound in each other's arms we can
Witness without being consumed.
Consider without becoming.
Fear without being destroyed.

Make me question.
Make me think.
Make me learn.
Make me live.
Make me love.
And I will do the same for you.

As the circuit between us
Strengthens, we will be drawn deeper
Into each other.
And the isolating void between us
Will cease to exist.
