Airless

Airless

A Poem by Nancy

Do you know I miss you?

I try not to think about it too much

But sometimes at night

When the house is quiet and dark

The sadness creeps in

And I can’t breathe

Sometimes when the house is quiet and dark

I can feel you close to me

I can see how you once were

And I can’t breathe

Do you know I loved you?

I try to push these thoughts away

But sometimes in the morning

When the house is filled with sunshine

The heartache begins

And I can’t breathe

Sometimes in the morning

When the house is filled with sunshine

I can picture us together

You were laughing at my joke

And I can’t breathe

When did my world become airless?

Is it only because I am choking on my tears?

Or is it because of what I might reveal

I would give anything

To breathe the air you breathed

To feel the warmth of the sunshine

To be soothed by the darkness of the night

It’s hard to breathe in a life that’s airless

I can’t breathe in a life without you.

really a nice poem, longing and waiting make such good material for sorrow and help plant the seeds of reunion, thanks for sharing.

To have felt that much love and desire for someone in a romantic way is exceptional. I wonder--is this truth or fiction? Sam
