Stop Sign By Nancy Pofahl

Flames are bursting through the roof

Glass windows shatter and break

People scream obscenities

Another night in the ghetto,

Druggies lying in the gutter

Pimps out walking the street

Watching the girls in the cheap hotels

Teaching them how to bleed.

How can you run a city?

And not hear the victim’s cry

How can you run a country?

Where there children slowly die

Up in the better off side of town

The rich kids pimp their rides

They elegantly sniff their blow

Out of gold spoons

Daddy provides

They drive around in their fancy cars

They’re bored and drunk and stoned

Soon they’re lying dead in the road

Daddy’s money won’t bring them home

The whole damn world’s gone crazy

There’s no safe place anymore

A child shoves a gun in your face

And you’re splattered all over the floor

Lost in our inconsistencies

They say we reap what we sow

Kindness comes infrequently

Ignore the seed and anger grows

Those who run a country

Replacing truth with lies

Until there’s no more children

Only lonely Earth under empty skies.

Too true too often. It takes a village to raise a child and that is gone. No family, no religion, no personal responsibility anymore. How sad. Children nowadays don't know what they have missed and it's our own fault. You painted a vivid picture.

Under empty skies, says it all. A world of distruction. Your flow is smooth and your words are a call to wake up and feel the pain. Who will hear and who will listen? Another well written write.
