The One True Freedom

The One True Freedom

A Poem by Nancy

The One True Freedom

Nnacy Pofahl

Don’t turn your backs because your time will come

The destruction of wars where nothing is won.

Soon only apathy will fills the hearts?

Of all who have lost in this endless farce.

They did it for you up on capitol hill

And where were you when they were fighting somewhere?

Where were you when their lives were being lost?

Sitting down in your comfort putting mankind on the cross

And who are you that you should judge?

Through the mine fields of hell just who should trudge

You say “were the leaders, you just do what we say”

To be free lives must be lost.  Is that the only way?

This old world is it lost

Hey mister president what’s the cost?

To be free

Mothers and widows must cry

He told me…..

Freedom comes but once

That’s when you die

Your weapons will soon be nothing but rubble

Your cities will fall they’ll be no more trouble

When nothing is left for man to destroy

As we collapse into an empty void

We played with our knowledge

With a mad mans delight

Created the bombs

No more days’ only nights

And the toxic, bitter air

We continue to breathe

Finally the entire world will share

Now the last day’s been reached

Say goodbye to children

Say goodbye to the old

Say goodbye to all that’s good

No more Sun to heat up the cold

Through the smoke and the fire

We finally slip away

The earth will shine again

With a new cast in its play

Somewhere in the distance

I hear a soldier cry

It isn’t too late

To let the peace Dove fly

Oh God I’m bagging

Take this gun from me

Take away the bombs

Learn from this prophecy

We fight without a reason

Don’t listen to the lies

The only truth you need to know is

Freedom is not meant to be

To walk among the living

We must accept the boundaries

Let love become our prison

With kindness the only key

We know not what comes after

This end of humankind

Until then were bound together

Until our final place and time

When your Freedom comes for You.

And you gently die.

A sad commentary on the human race Beautifully presented in well written poetic prose. At one time kings and leaders led from the frontand if they were killed the battle was lost.Today our leaders both political and military direct proceedings from a safe distance.Usually interfering where they have no right to be

Let love become our prison
With kindness the only key

Beautiful lines above. This poem is so well written and rings with the truth. You have captured the sadness of the world and the ugliness of politics, how a few make deadly decisions for us many who have to suffer watching love one fight for a freedom, that they must die to obtain.

Sentiments well recieved and expressed expertly. Good write.
