Fury

Fury

A Poem by Nyida Strong
"

Assignment from my therapist, to free write on anger. I wrote a poem as well as the free write.

"
Red, blaze, and fire
heat burning under
my skin, well from
within deepest parts.

Confusion and not fully
grasping the reasons
behind the sensation
roiling in my soul.

Anger reminds me of
something dark and bleeding,
pain mixed with an
internal fire.

I see dangerous things
and the root hiding
in the middle of
that word and its meaning.

To give in, to realize
the anger is to fail
and become the monster
lurking in my dark.

I like your autobiography of writing in your profile. This was interesting, it's rare one reads much about anger these days.

I like it. It brings anger to life, gives it breath and makes it a beast beneath the surface of you. I know what it's like to be filled with anger, though mine usually borders on rage. I get that burning tingling sensation up the back of my neck and into the base of my skull. It's the weirdest sensation and when I talk about it people look at me funny.... I guess it's one of those individual reactions to the emotions.
