Solace

Solace

A Poem by Omar Nazario

This one is for the men who live in secret

The humanist stuck in an old prose that explains his intentions

The voice that’s cultured and loved but misrepresented

That man who shed blood and bathed in a stranger’s sweat

That morning he woke formally to a strangely wonderful embrace

That strained tune that shattered the mask he’d donned in regret

That symmetry he’d been force to taste but found fermented

That innocent touch that piqued curiosity and bursted into colors

That raging dance that diluted the mephitic air and gave it a fragrance

That electrifying kiss that rumbled in the depths of his swollen stomach

That rattle of joy that repeated itself all the way back to habit

That unmarked passion that already existed before it was discovered

That exposed smile that reassured, radiated, perfected and saved

Those three words

That sadness that dissipated

That lovely welcome

That relief

That love

That man

Beautiful poem! I loved how it picked up speed! It feels almost like a heart beat that races at the climax... then begins to relax at the end.

Thanks Aurora. Love your name by the way. I did feel the title thing too but I usually name the poem after a feeling or a thought that inspires me to write it. I think I'm not always literal, though I try to be. Thank you for commenting.

This was a very good poem! I always like to read your stuff, because the language that you use is very well thought out. I liked the premise of this poem; the title of the poem is what drew me in. Even after reading it, I'm still trying to figure out how the title fit in with the poem. But not all titles ahve to match perfectly.

My favorite part of the piece would be 'The humanist stuck in an old prose that explains his intentions/The voice that’s cultured and loved but misrepresented' becasue it was so well-written.

I really enjoyed reading this piece. Thank you for writing it!!
