Fake Eyelashes

Fake Eyelashes

A Poem by R.E.K.
"

How to love your body

"
Rhapsody of
 Being inked in this body
Sunken in
To this pearlized
Because Ironically
We only fit into ourselves
We we stop trying
When we let the light
Seep into corners we didn't know
Existed
We resist
What need not be resisted
Inexorable to create an affinity
Between organs and faces
Among the luster of our dreams
And our curved and shadowed places
But let it be known that our scars are simply
Stars that need not be rearranged

So as I stood among the isles
Of a colorful store
Listening to "Catch and Release"
A wave of something washed over me
Tilted my head, closed my eyes
Still, and softer still
And for a moment
Greeted a stranger named Peace

Run my hands down my sides now
No longer feel the plea
That used to run through my head
I let nothingness be
The chorus to my happiness instead
I eat my rice
Try fake eyelashes
And break free of this vice
That would turn me to ashes
Promise my consciousness
A beloved home
For when we set free the spite,
Little blue bird returns
