God Sends an Army

God Sends an Army

The trees bow down to the wind,

Worshipping its awesome power.

Their backs nearly break

As the angle of their spines become almost unnatural.

Clouds soar above them at a steady rate-

Gray angels casting their shadows across the Earth.

The light of morning fails to filter through the veil of the storm-

This army sent from the tropics.

Drums of war vibrate as thunder i the distance.

A low rumble is alerting the enemy that the worst is yet to come.

The trees are now begging for mercy-

Waving their leafy hands at the approaching army,

But it's too late.

Shots ring out with a clap and boom followed by a flash of light.

A tree goes down crackling from the breaking bark and a surge of electricity.

Man down.

More casualties will follow before the storm is over.

Many overtake homes and streets. Oceans overpower boats and buildings,

Smashing them to pieces.

When the battle is over, the land will appear alien to those that survive.

They realize that their previous prayers were in vain.

It was the will of their god to punish them for one thing or another.

All that's left to do now is repent and rebuild.

This is the only place where my writing from high school still exists. A lot of it is embarrassing to adult me, but I'm not going to begrudge teenage me of her thoughts and feelings. I may add som.. more..
