Her Kiss

Her Kiss

A Poem by Hannah Erickson

"

There was caution in her kiss,

Hesitating hands near my cheek,

Fear of crossing a boundary,

Or perhaps of leaving it be.

A storm was raging inside of her,

Lightning not sparked by anger,

But thunder of a pounding heart

That wished not to be left alone.

Arms entangle.

Mouths meet.

Skin collides with skin.

Poetry written with flesh and bone,

And a feeling that can't escape.

Life is different when translated

Through a memory slowly fading,

But some things will never be forgotten

By a girl once she is loved.

"Lightning not sparked by anger,
But thunder of a pounding heart
That wished not to be left alone.
Arms entangle.
Mouths meet.
Skin collides with skin."

This is the only place where my writing from high school still exists. A lot of it is embarrassing to adult me, but I'm not going to begrudge teenage me of her thoughts and feelings. I may add som.. more..
