In The Pieces That Do Not Fit

In The Pieces That Do Not Fit

A Poem by MandarinOranges
"

Life as a Jiggsaw Puzzle

"

you start with a frame to build upon,

working your way inward,

filling in the areas easily defined,

saving the most challenging for last.

you think you've found a matching fit,

but find, it doesn't match at all.

tossing it aside, you move on to the next,

searching until you find

just the right one.

slowly but surely,

it starts to come together.

you start to see a pattern,

you're begining to see the pretty picture,

lain out before you,

almost complete,

almost whole,

but there's always the pieces

that just do not fit.

you start to think they belong to something else,

they're not part of this packaged deal.

it seems there are to many here

for you to work with

and then

there doesn't seem to be enough at all.

you get confused,

you get aggitatied

you need to step back,

take a break for awhile,

but you always come back.

it's an addiction,

a need to see it through to the end.

it becomes a pattern,

it becomes a pretty picture.

and in the pieces that do not fit,

you take comfort in knowing

if they don't belong to you,

they most belong to someone,

they are not alone,

and you...

you are not alone.
