Farewell

Farewell

A Poem by outspoken1234
"

I wrote this from my point of view as a child of a veteran and having many other family members who have served this country this is of a teen girl dreaming about fallen soldiers

"
I walk the streams of red, white, and blue
Seeing all who gave their lives
I'm surprised I'm not turning white
The faces of vets long ago
Finally resting in peace
Nobody understands the price they gave
But I do
There's no changing what's past
I was told I'm determined like these brave men
I'll fight for freedom, life, and liberty
For justice, peace and love
No one will ever understand a price a vet gives
They wrote a check out for their service
Even their lives if lost in battle
They sing a sweet sad melody whispering
Don't cry for me I wanted this to protect and serve
Forever more we will remain in the land of the dead
My child you must go for it is not your time
But for now what I can say is farewell
Farewell my friend
Farewell my daughter
Farewell my child till we meet again
Farewell will be my dying breath
I bid you farewell
