day dreaming

day dreaming

A Poem by Jeff Overton

I lie down in meadows green
Close my eyes, then drift and dream
Transported to a magical place
Filled with wonders yet to be seen
Shrouded in natures screen
A vision that truly has to be seen

I walk around inside my head
Moss filled gases I softly tread
Dip my toe into crystal streams
Bathe in warm everlasting steam
Eat the foliage, soft and green

Dragons fly high above
Dive then twist, then reach the sky
Golden rays kiss scaly hide
Wings outstretched, it dives then glides
Then disappears into the clouds

Wizards, warlocks, sorceresses
Trolls, orcs and half men rhinoceroses
Burping loudly as they eat
Eat some more then repeat
Leave huge prints from giants’ feet
All the above can be found, in this magical mysterious land

Rabbits dart from thick bracken
Chased by spear wielding homosapien
Arms spring loaded they let them fly
Straight and true, they’re followed by eye
Striking prey they have their prize

Eyes now open,
Reality gains
Gentle drops as it starts to rain
Close my eyes then drift again
Where my story begins once again
