Pollenticks

Pollenticks

A Poem by Jeff Overton

You were my honey bee
I was your daffadil
I was nestled in thick weeds
Stangled until nector bled
Unhappy in life until you flew by
And softly fed

You landed with such eligance
And in that sun your body danced
And those wings did buzz as you showed your love
And  drank from my elixar
And in return you gave me life
And drew a new picture
Of what life should be and not what i had already  lived

So here i sit amidst these strangling weeds struggling to breath
Looking up at the sun yearning to feel its rays on my face
Yearning  to thrive.
Yearning to survive
And break free from these weeds that have me shackled to this dusty place

So i give you this gift
I place it on your legs
So you can take flight
And spread me far and wide
So i may thrive
So i may survive
