Grocery Commotion

Grocery Commotion

A Poem by Pam
"

A sensory poem.

"
Doors are slammed shut while footsteps are heard in front of them.
Children are screaming across the room,
While they jump up and down for a toy they desperately desire.
Music plays throughout the store, while the wheels of shopping carts continuously scratch against the hard wooden floor.
"Paper, plastic, or neither?" the clerk asks as a customer sighs.
A loud, annoying beep comes from the scanner, as various items slide down the belt.
Crunches are heard when a customer picks an item up.
Boxes drop to the cold floor with a loud smashing sound.
The exit/entrance door swings open when it senses your presence.
By the time you leave, the only thing you'll remember from it all,
Is the sound of the receipt being printed out.
Along with the change rolling around.
