vain

vain

A Poem by paperrush

wild red eyes
cried your name alone
fever breaks
and skin aches
because it's not my own

voice twists
demon howls
surprising fervor
GET OUT.

lids screwed tight
against the dark
and promises made
but only half meant
the night will progress
and i'll lose my head
with only half a heart.
