Haiku

Haiku

A Poem by Paul McKendry
"

.

"

I see them burning

Wise men of heaven above

Tired lungs of life.

        Gaping eyes collide

        Weak, tender, leering

        She doesn’t notice.

                        Snowflakes sink softly

                        Hugging grounds of lesser loam

                        Angel tears chaste white.

             Smoke and dirt engulf.

                              Choking air and natures love.

                              Nuclear planet.

               Everything here burns.

               Smouldering weeps of children.

                In playground warzones.

                                 Please leave me alone

    Stop screaming inside my head

                       I have to end this.

        Whisper as I hang

I am immune to you now

     You can haunt no more.
