The Spider's Wedding

The Spider's Wedding

A Poem by Paul

Here he comes with pomp and pride

All on eight to meet his bride

With untainted love he courts his bride

Who after mating shall deal him bites

Slicing his head and eschewing his loins

Here is murder orchestrated by love!

Strong silky web spun the groom

Such a one that defies the broom

For their cozy bed in honeymoon.

Down the aisle he leads her home

A bride, a maid and murderous wife

Who when in love goes all the way

That none of love can keep at bay

Her murderous instincts from holding sway.

When through the aisle he had led her home

Never again to her roam

In crooked corners and dark crannies

He turns to a wife, bride and mate

Looking forward to consummate

Love and death in holy matrimony

Here is murder on honeymoon’s bed

And leaves the groom no alimony.
