This was written whilst studying similar titled poems by William Blake, so I decided to put my own modern spin on the "lost and found" concept

"

The Little Girl Lost


Riding on the lion's back, 
Dancing through the crashing waves. 
I laugh and smile all day long 
As I explore the stygian caves 

I want to swim through murky waters 
And capture monsters far beneath. 
I want to roll through open fields 
And breathe the wondrous, wild heath. 

But my parents weep and scream 
And drag me from the water's edge 
And smack me with a fearful hand, 
To me their fears and worries pledge. 

But I know the caves are safe, 
And the monsters will not bite my hand. 
So let my parents weep and worry 
As I explore the wild land…

 

The Little Girl Found


After days and days of searching, the little girl was found, 
Her soiled, bloody, broken bones dead upon the ground. 
Just a few days previous, by the crashing waves, 
An old man saw a little girl inside the stygian caves…
