Long delayed recognition for Friend Tate

Long delayed recognition for Friend Tate

A Poem by Poeticpiers
"

poem in rhyming quatrains

"

Recognition long delayed.

The words you write will outlast you.

Your thoughts preserved in black and white.

 A century or maybe two

will pass before they come to light.

Some scholar who is studying

minor poets of the past.

Might well end up discovering.

Your poetry was meant to last.

The words you chose so carefully

are still applicable today.

Fame comes to you posthumously

long after you have passed away.

At last you get the fame you sought.

Denied whilst you were still alive.

Because some eager student thought

to search a little used archive.

And wise enough to recognise

He had discovered quality

Which might well help him gain the prize

 which he pursues his P.H.D.

Now rescued from obscurity.

The words you wrote so long ago

Are studied academically.

Though sadly you will never know..

The student has achieved his aim

He gained his coveted degree.

In doing so he brought you fame

Albeit unintentionally.

The words you write will outlast you.

An unintended legacy.

To poets who will follow you

Donated to posterity.

BRAVO! too few consider the future, and too few recognize their place in the past...but maybe the student lived before and in searching finds himself, a thought few would entertain! All speculations aside, your write rhymes well and has that sweet melody of allure and humor. I was carried along willingly and paused several times to contemplate...who knows maybe one will be the next Emily D.

My words may fall on empty space, but my hope is this fine poet sees my words from heaven on high and knows that his work will be revered for years to come. RIP IVOR, poet.

Reading these recent comments, I guess Ivor has passed on, which I find very sad. He was most serious about his poetry, and in my view, extremely good at it. When giving reviews, he told it straight and with no sugar coating, which is how it should be. Most of us, myself included, are usually not so honest and forthright. Here's to you, Ivor, my friend. You left the world a better place.

On behalf of Ivor thank you
Poeticpiers, you write from heart, what budding poets and poetry lovers like me, have felt every time we have read a poem penned by him! Never we could, though, write such a deep felt and well thought tribute to the words of the lines of his poems! They have made me wiser, as they have to numerous others!

Surely, its a blessing to be alive in almost the same time-span as Tate, to be able to read and understand the meaning of the lines he wrote and keeps writing...

What a wonderful, well penned tribute! This piece has an aura about it that brings to mind thw golden age of classic European poetry.
