malehood

malehood

A Poem by rt farris
"

getting some things off my chest

"
back in the day
boys didn't cry even
though i did
but it would take
decades to get me
to say so

and even today
softness in sons is more
a current theme
in the minds of
modern moms than
the real world of
boys and men

and nice is good
but subject
to all kinds of
caveats where
boys and girls mix
and collide

and the angle
from which men
view themselves may
be less lovely and
more respect filled
than women wives can
entertain

and the machismo
that can irritate
and debilitate can
also rejuvenate and add
to this fullness we call
the world and what we
also know as life

there are only two of us
who can do this dance
this creative and sustained
act of survival

and
just to make it clear

being male
though it's not
the opposite of being
a woman
it's not the same
either

Poem is direct and informative on a topic few understand and many men refuse to accept... i do believe in equality but in the end there are differences in perception that cannot be ignored

The poem is right on. Men has true feelings, but they hide them from others. I think it's okay for a man to cry.

Well said within the context of known society... living as a "gentler-soul". We "need" to FEEL our inner-child and let it out. But don't go and even give the appearance of "dissing" ANYONE lest you MUST back it up - RIGHT now. AND "looks" count, clothes too. Hell - even the "where" you are matters to the "HOW" you have to be IF you are to REMAIN being or not...

The world is NOT in your woman's eyes - just YOU are. Take care of her AND your business.

Live in the times as best you can.

Wonderful. I love a man's viewpoint. Love to read the strong, tender voice that is possible when the poets knows himself and frees the thoughts. Thank you!
