Meshugana

Meshugana

A Poem by Pete
"

Staying in the house breeds a sort of insanity always. Every house is, in this sense, a hospital. - Thoreau

"
Light in the Darkness | Lead Like Jesus

in the pretzel-twisted recesses of a buffeted mind
pin cushion pricks prominent
the deadly shrapnel of past traumas inflict their pain upon a surrendered soul
causing a total loss of control

barbed wire boundaries crossed
awash with the warm urine of flooding nightmares
drinking the incontinence of emptiness
lit cigarettes snuffed out
sanity the ash tray

lost in a laughing hyena hailstorm
trying to find a forgiving way
searching for the clarity and reason of a far-off day
low-crawling 'neath battleground rage

trying to rewrite a tattered, torn and yellowed page

Author's Note

Pete
"If one listens to the faintest but constant suggestions of his genius, which are certainly true, he sees not to what extremes, or even insanity, it may lead him; and yet that way, as he grows more resolute and faithful, his road lies." - Thoreau

pretzel twisted - love that imagery
I can't help feeling if you stay indoors for too long, without going out into the fresh air, without seeing a change of scenery, this is how you'll end up. Dark brooding foreboding thoughts.

I can't help feeling you need to visit the ducks in the park again. Nature always dispels much of the gloom for me. Maybe though some people find comfort in darkness. We are all different. Not only that we all have our own way of dealing with darkness or depression. Thanks for sharing Pete. Some pretty vivid and sharp imagery here.

Our brains get filled with too much over thinking from trauma and nightmare. Our minds can get fixated on the damage that has been inflicted over time. These images and descriptions are pretty accurate to have it can feel and seem.

I so enjoy dark brooding thoughts. At times they truly speak to our truest nature. Wonderful work Pete.
