Evermore

Evermore

A Poem by Pete

Window rain. Waiting for the Friday workday to be over...: raining

drawing down a quilt of bipolar warmth
in a tiny one-room that most would use for a closet
i awaken to an elegiac wall of grey
presence known 'tween orbiting drops on my window
cold rain of stealth, streaked panes

gravity defied
twisting an umbrella of innocence
in gales of lies
i've known you before
walked your lonely shore
turning the tide of an ebbing now to a flowing past
obscuring reality and pilfering time

i rub and i rub
but i can't erase your deposited silt
can't find my way through the shame and guilt
how much more
how long 'til you pound at the door
demanding

evermore

always the rain has such power over us to bring everything inside overwhelmingly... I can say easily that I've been there in your poem more than once, the betrayal, the loneliness, the ache, the hurt, the sorrows, the harsh deep wound, the emptiness, the despair, the waiting... and waiting and waiting where there is nothing to come but the sound of rain on the window, and here it feels like forever. again, masterfully done, vivid and real, another piece of real art from You.
