Osteon

A Poem by Pete
"

We are all sculptors and painters, and our material is our own flesh and blood and bones. - Thoreau

"
Who Pulled the Sword from the Stone? The Truth of the Swords of King Arthur | Ancient Origins

deep down in something else's bone
far away from home
beyond the meat, grizzle and fat
i dig for life's marrow
only to realize that i'm unable to do anything with it
a bow with no arrow
a never ending search for the holy grail
a ship with no sail
hands tied behind my back
trying to read braille

Author's Note

Pete
"I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms." - Thoreau

the marrow of life is the core, the essence of live...and you are searching for the meaning of life...a very deep meaning, which often turns out to be nought.....as it takes so much out of one's strength in body, in mind....I think we all search in different ways....and perhaps we never find it....
Well written piece Pete.
