To Go Or Not To Go: That Is The Question

three elderly, hard of hearing poets were at the nursing home

the first turned and said to the second, "have you moved your vowels today?"

the second answered, "no, i've been bound up with consonance lately and furthermore my verses are flatulent"

a third chimed in, "try prunes on toast, they're very 'thoreau' and spread easily 'sonnet'

"haiku" the second replied, "thank you"

"you're welcome" said the third, "besides, i 'ode' you one"

just then, a nurse came in shaking her head and said, "there you go again, you three are forever stuck on assonance" ...
