'Wreckoning'

Remember that the smallest seed of faith is of more worth than the largest fruit of happiness. - Thoreau

Major and Minor signs of the Day of Judgement

decadence dancing a debauched twist
magnetic, crooked-finger beckoning
top hat of illusions alluring, empty promises
cold, lonely dirt road to nowhere
dust choking
traffic jam with no offramp
no breakdown lane
gutters littered with the tired refuse of life's discarded folly

it's always night
day never dawns
emptiness rolls over and yawns
chessboard with no king or queen, littered with spent pawns
glitter of gold turned to tarnished bronze
broken glass pond with only black swans
limping streetwalkers with broken stiletto heels and torn nylons
drooling, missing-teeth, crippled johns
off in the hilly distance heaven's' gate
eternity and eons

rows of faceless people standing in line with empty pockets and no coupons
