When Push Comes To Shove

When Push Comes To Shove

Nothing can be more useful to a man than the determination not to be hurried. - Thoreau

Push to Shove | Spotify

a lonely scavenger
bathed in jilted, stilted lavender
sometimes i feel like i can reach up, grab the sky and put it in my pocket
stepping cloud to cloud with invisible sneakers
floating in the ocean upon permanent waves
pole to pole
trying to be whole
butterflies and birds at my beckon call
inhaling innocence
exhaling guilt

digesting morsels of truth
upchucking chunks of lies
dressed to the hilt
in this leaking house that someone else built
with its bizarre, skewed, ever-changing tilt
and no foundation
begging to be rebuilt
all there is is love
on the back of a wingless dove
and dilly-dallying pushes
begging for a steadfast shove

Author's Note

Pete
“How many a poor immortal soul have I met well-nigh crushed and smothered under its load, creeping down the road of life, pushing before it a barn seventy-five feet by forty, its Augean stables never cleansed, and one hundred acres of land, tillage, mowing, pasture, and wood-lot. The portionless, who struggle with no such unnecessary inherited encumbrances, find it labor enough to subdue and cultivate a few cubic feet of flesh.” - Thoreau

Oh to have our mind wander when things go wrong... "stepping cloud to cloud with invisible sneakers"....ridding ourselves of lies and guilt....and a leaky , tilting house that is in need of repair...
What to do...not to worry about all these matters and live your life with love, "when push comes to shove"
Lovely
Warmly, B

Wow, what a fantastic read! I really enjoyed the wording and the sort of list form experiences in the write. The alliteration is great here and not overpowering but delivering the mail. Great job on this, a pleasure to read. F.

thanks for the kind share fgf. the postman only rings twice.
I like the feeling I get from this that the speaker is picking through the good and bad bits of life, navigating their existence, or survival, to make the best of what is offered.
