The Song Remains The Same

The Song Remains The Same

A Poem by Pete
"

Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them. - Thoreau

"

Streaming Royalties: Billion-Dollar Fight Between Music Biz and DSPs

you were willing to die for the music
you loved it such
more than much
accompanied by all that came
pain and shame
love and disdain
claim and blame
spark and flame

you dared to play the game
hearing because you sought no acclaim
despite the flooding rain
emotionally crippled and spiritually lame
there's a price for everything, including fame
except for a soul that takes careful aim
on wings of melody from flutes of champagne
besides, what's in a name
inasmuch as

the song remains the same

Author's Note

Pete
"Christianity only hopes. It has hung its harp on the willows, and cannot sing a song in a strange land. It has dreamed a sad dream, and does not yet welcome the morning with joy. The mother tells her falsehoods to her child, but, thank heaven, the child does not grow up in its parent's shadow. Our mother's faith has not grown with her experience. Her experience has been too much for her. The lesson of life was too hard for her to learn." - Thoreau
