Masquerade Charade

It takes two to speak the truth: one to speak, and another to hear. - Thoreau

wearing glasses with only one lens
a facade twists and pretends
the sandman's throwing dirt at indifferent faces
no footprints, no traces
a half-naked, veiled, dance from an evil temptress
plying certainty in order to coerce a fib to confess
two-faced folks pass by as under their hurried breaths they mumble, "god bless"
breathing carbon dioxide, exhaling gunk and funk
not to mention all the other recycled junk
raggedy air through a permanent, plastic, gemmed, covid mask
no one cares, no one even stops to ask

sporting high-top sneakers with no souls
ignoring all the rips, tears and holes
spitting tears
crying blood
shards of glass from shattered mirrors digging into our calloused feet
leery of everyone we meet or greet
everything baked into an unrisen, no-layer cake
including the dirty, ringed kitchen sink
'tis all about what we feel
hardly what we think
actuality has no need to blink

the music/movement and the words sound like a three ring circus.... much discordant music and words...
nothing happy about this piece...a lot of confusion and chaos going on....except that life is SH*T
for so many of us...we're all strangers to each other...not caring what happens to us or society....this must be the 60's because then it was about all we feel, not what we look like or anyone else...nothing really matters except our feelings...the sky could fall in... and so what????
my vision of this Pete!
