Confluence

A Poem by Pete
"

Life in us is like the water in a river. - Thoreau

"
Obsidian Wings: A brook, run, creek, branch, or stream runs through it

sworn blood oaths
transparent, clandestine arteries of reality's allegiance
tributaries of babbling, gurgling diffidence
brooks and streams giggle the happenstance of secrets
along with creeks that both leak and speak
turning the crank of organ-grinded half-truths, rumors and lies
muck and mire fails to flow as it's trapped and dies
a weighty river conveying their donations to the sea
passing through the mouth
where some evaporate into slimmer, foggy relics
some falling as mist, drops or a deluge of rain yet again
some blabbed to attentive ears
others sinking to the bottom, trapped 'neath sand like buried treasure
where they belong
along with all of my fears

"A field of water betrays the spirit that is in the air. It is continually receiving new life and motion from above. It is intermediate in its nature between land and sky." - Thoreau
