Would You

Would You

A Poem by Pete
"

There is no remedy for love but to love more. - Thoreau

"
He said he adores me, does it mean love? - Quora

if i bled you a sonnet would you fold it gently and place it in your beauty's drawer
if we danced in heaven would you need a floor
if we kissed in rags 'neath the regolith of the moon would you remember what we wore
if i crossed the ocean would you meet me 'pon your shore
if i brought you rare vintage would you part my soul asunder and pour
if i grew you flowers would you know what they were for

if we labored in the throes of passion would you consider it a chore
if i opened my heart to let you in would you enter through such a door
if i loved you a lot could you love me more
if i counted to three would you chime in with four
holding each other for eternity as an undying love we swore
after all, 'tis you i adore

Dear Pete
sometimes it takes a little coaxing to really get what you want...your desires...so you have to tempt in a way.... i love the "ifs" and the temptations....I would definitely take you up on your "if's" some of them are so romantic, mysterious, exotic, who wouldn't want to fall in deep love with you Pete.... "ii I opened my heart to let you in, would you enter through such a door?" I would!

Beautiful poetry tenderly expressed; a questioning hopefulness and a hopeless devotion implied, the sweet anticipation of confirmation tinged with a little fear, a little self-doubt, a sense of humility and unworthiness. But are any of us worthy of love? We call the wedding bower an altar because it is where we sacrifice the self and one life is born of two. I so enjoyed this lovely poem.
