Hooty McOwl

Hooty McOwl

A Poem by Samuel Dickens
"

Inspired by a local news item

"

Hooty McOwl went flyin' one night

Lookin' to whet his owl appetite

With claws outstretched and radar on

He spied a big bug in the danger zone

Full speed ahead, I'll soon have ya caught!

A bullet with wings, his feathers got hot!

The bug flew slow, but Hooty was fast

(Too fast, alas, for owls to blast)

With tears in his eyes and too little sense

Hooty McOwl crashed into a fence

From a local news report. The picture is of the actual owl. Don't worry, a policeman came along and rescued him.

You know Sam I do like a happy ending and my dismay for poor Hooty McOwl soon lessened when I found out he had been rescued. He looks most uncomfortable stuck in the fence. Maybe he has learned a lesson and will adjust his speedometer in future. Fun poem.

I don't remember you for poems, Sam, but I will for this one! You've been holding out. I needed this after the sleepless night I just had. First giggle of the day has already made an improvement. This was so cute and inspirational, it makes the lighter side of life come through. Poor Hooty. Glad he made it through his ordeal.

As for the 'sucker' post, my dear, you are by far that. The suckers know who they are --- now. Those with a percent of sense at all, I hope, will be making a better choice this time around. I, for one, appreciate you for the service you provided me and my loved ones. God bless you and keep you safe!

Awwwww! I love your sense of compassion for all creatures! My cabin is all windows, front & back, so birds often try to fly thru, smashing into my windows instead. The other day a hawk hit my window so hard (never had a hawk do this before!) I'm amazed it didn't break! I love seeing you posting new poetry & I hope you're feeling spunky about your writing again, becuz this is pure delight! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Ha! Love it. So surprised to see poetry from you, but we just never know the when's or why's of when inspiration strikes and in what form.
Love the humour here, which is allowed without getting hashtagged, as it has a happy outcome... If a concussion can be deemed positive.
